The Technion

By now, the doctor and I have been to the Technion campus many times, but all of you have yet to see it. I decided to accompany the doctor to work the other day so that I could take some pictures and give you a glimpse of the campus. Feel free to click on the individual pictures to see the larger versions.

The first picture finds us in the faculty lounge of the Family Science and Technology Centre, where the Faculty of Computer Science and the doctor's office are located. This is also where the doctor gets his morning caffeine drip started.

After dropping the doctor off at his office, I proceeded to the elevators, but not before snapping this picture of campus from my 5th floor vantage point. You can see Kislak Park in the bottom right area, which I give a closer look at in one of the next pictures.

Here is a picture of the Computer Science building along with a small portion of the previously mentioned park. The central, large windows are where I took the previous picture from.

This is Kislak Park, or however much of it I could fit in my camera frame. It is the largest open green space on campus and features many picnic benches and a few fountains. It is definitely a hot spot for people to gather at all hours of the day.

Just past Kislak Park, nestled between many different types of trees, is the Student Union Building. Inside, you'll find a convenience store, a nail salon, a clothing store, and a little taste of home for me and the doctor in the form of a Pizza Hut.

The main strip that connects Kislak Park to Southeastern parts of campus is known at the Russell Berrie Promenade. If you followed my Learning Hebrew post closely then you might be able to recognize the name in Hebrew on the sign below. The second line of Hebrew writes "Rasl Bry". Notice again how few vowels are used in Hebrew and that the letter Y here has an "ee" sound just like in my name but can also used as a consonant like in the word yellow.

Here is a close up of the sculpture from the previous picture. My Hebrew is definitely not good enough to tell you what the sculpture means or who made it!

Here's another sculpture you can find on the Technion campus. In the background, you might be able to recognize the word technology on the blue sign.

This picture is for the lovers of the arts. It is a semi-large outdoor theatre located across from Kislak Park. So far, we have yet to see it in use.

In the background of this and the previous picture you'll find the Mathematics Building. Upon first seeing the building, the doctor guessed that it was the math building since "all math buildings look drab and boring" - the doctor, 2017.

Finally, we've reached the end of the tour. I'll leave you with a picture that highlights the beautiful scenery that can be found on the Technion campus as well as over all of Israel.
