The Doctor goes to Washington

Last month, the doctor had the pleasure of visiting Washington, D.C. for the Principles of Distributed Computing (PODC) and the Symposium on Parallel Algorithms and Architectures (SPAA) conferences. This is one of several of the doctor's successful research paper submissions this year.

The conference was held at The George Washington University, which is very central in Washington allowing for some sight seeing--and is there ever a ton of things to see in Washington!

The most well known attraction in Washington is undoubtedly the White House. Here is a stunning picture from Washington.org that showcases the crisp green lawn, pretty flowers, and fountain of the North Lawn.

In reality, the doctor said that it was slightly underwhelming due to the presence of many tourists and a large fence obstructing the view.

Other sites of note include the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the National Air and Space Museum, the National Museum of Natural History, and so much more!

I wish I had been able to join the doctor on this exciting trip, but with plane ticket prices what they are, and the fact that the doctor's trip to the U.S. involved a grueling 27 hours of travel, complete with a 9 hour layover in Russia, I was content to stay in Israel and enjoy some peace and quiet. Additionally, the doctor mentioned that the weather in Washington rivaled that of Israel, with some days feeling even hotter and more humid!
