Vienna, Austria

It's hard to believe that six months has gone by so quickly, but our time in Israel has finally come to an end. Our last few weeks there were spent packing, purging, cleaning, closing bank accounts, cancelling our internet and phone plans, and showing our apartment to potential renters, all amidst the many holidays in the first month of the Hebrew calendar, known as Tishri (which you already know from Learning Hebrew: Part 4). Some of these holidays include Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year where you eat apples dipped in honey to symbolize a sweet new year), Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement where you fast for 25 hours), and Sukkot (the Harvest Festival).

We left Israel on Friday the 13th and had a thankfully uneventful flight despite the spooky day. It has only been two days since we arrived in Vienna, but we have already fallen in love with this beautiful city. From the incredibly intricate designs of the many cathedrals throughout the city to the historic buildings around every corner--I can't wait to see more during our time here!
